A Word About Utah

Utah is a beautiful state with a controversial history. Mormonism and polygamy have especially been in the news in recent years, not just in the past. This is a new era for Utah though, nothing is at all like it was just twenty-five years ago. There is much to be admired here still with moral values, clean living and even a balanced natural beauty. As with other states in the west like Idaho and Montana, the population density being so small, many of the elements of larger community living are absent or minimal.

The world has been here with the 2002 Winter Olympics and Utah has long been known for snow and skiing. Industry is here also with companies like Thiokol, Parker Hannifin, as well as the computer industry with Micron and Novell. There are plenty of colleges to choose from in Utah, including the nationally ranked University of Utah.

There is also a Military presence here in the northern part of the state with Hill Air Force Base surrounded by several cities including Clearfield, Layton, Roy and Ogden.

Professional sports are here with the Utah Jazz leading the headlines. Fishing, hunting, mountain biking and especially winter sports like skiing are very popular. For a complete history and information guide on the state we would suggest the Utah state web site for more information. The State Website is found at [www.utah.gov]
