Weeds
I hate weeds.
Well, maybe 'hate' is a little too strong. How about annoyed or frustrated by weeds. It seems that no matter how hard I try to keep them under control they keep coming back. Pull them, cut them, use Roundup®, SpeedZone®, concrete or remove the top layer of dirt - They just keep coming.
And they breed; like flies (I hate flies too).
I have found a way to keep them 'tamped down', so to speak. Find an alternative plant I like and fertilize (feed) it. Like our lawn; the healthier my lawn is the fewer weeds it has but even then they still poke through on occasion. Or a good plant, like a rose bush. Feed that rose bush and it will help prevent weeds from appearing. And some bark will help too.
But even then the weeds just keep coming and I don't suppose we'll ever get completely rid of them.
Sort of like sin.
No matter how hard we try, sin just keeps coming. Bleh!
Did I tell you I hate sin too? I do. I hate what it does in my life. I hate what it does in the lives of those I love and I hate what it has done to humanity.
I hate sin.
So, how do we deal with it? The same as with weeds; you need to have a healthy alternative and feed it. Go ahead and pull at sin, tamp it down, or even use Roundup® on it :) and it will keep coming back. Read God's word and it will 'feed' you and help crowd out sin. While in this life you will never be completely free of sin but you can deal with it through the strength gained from studying the Word of God.
And, we have the confident expectation (hope) that just as the Lord will restore the Earth to its proper glory, we too will be freed from sin as well.
I can't wait.
------------------------------------------
The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God: and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him. For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us-ward. For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but by reason of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the liberty of the glory of the children of God.
(Rom 8:16-21)
For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world; looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
(Tit 2:11-13)
Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is. And every one that hath this hope set on him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
(1Jn 3:2-3)

Sin analogy
Very well put. As much as we want to be free from sin, it still keeps coming up. Our thought process is so evil. This is why we must accept grace and cling to it with all we are worth. Without the acceptace and knowledge of what Jesus did for us on the cross we would be lost in our sin life forever. That is where our hope comes from and what drives us to turn away from our sins.
Love the sinner, hate the sin. God offers hope and a future for all. Even in our sin. Ask him for help today.
