A Word About Internet Safety

Over
the last few years anyone watching the news knows there is a rise in
internet crime and the predators who use the internet to commit crimes.
This is a national issue that should concern the families of Americans
in all parts of the country no matter where you live. Since 2005 we
have been tracking and reporting on internet safety here in Utah and
in other parts of the country. We have learned a lot in that time and
we are working on creating a greater awareness of these issues.
We have found some tools for parents as well as for anyone who wants greater protection for themselves personally while on the internet. We have also created a presentation that we have been doing now since 2006 that is powerful and informative. If you are on the internet, you are always potentially at risk. If you have pre-teens or teens in your home and they are using the internet, they are at the highest risk possible for internet predators. The FBI has reported that at any given minute of the day there are over 50,000 sexual predators online seeking to find children. This is a growing problem in the United States, one that is getting worse and will not be going away any time soon. Below we have some resources for you to check out and use. |
